Cestival Water is a digital art installation that invites participants to create a river by sharing their personal memories of fresh water.
When all seems lost, we look up to the sky. When a shooting star appears, we make a wish. While the stars may still be a source of dreams, our hopes must now return to Earth—and especially to what lies beneath our feet: the rivers.
Rivers have been significantly impacted by human activities. Pollution, overconsumption, and development have reduced both the quality and quantity of freshwater available to support life. Yet water is more than just a resource. It is a teeming ecosystem that has now been destabilized and is gradually disappearing.
We must therefore rethink our relationship with the river, restore its sacred status in order to better preserve it, and rebuild a meaningful connection with it.
In Cestial Water, it is our memories and those of scientists that bring shooting stars into view. They streak across the sky until they become a thin trickle of water that forms a river. A river born of the stars. A Celestial Water.
